Varsha Bollamma on Thammudu: “Mind-blowing action and stunning visuals – a true theatrical experience!”

After the blockbuster Sankranthi Ki Vacham, Sri Venkateswara Creations is back with their latest film Thammudu, releasing worldwide on July 4th. Directed by Sriram Venu and produced by Dil Raju and Sirish, the movie stars Nithiin, Varsha Bollamma, Laya, and Saptami Gowda in key roles.
Speaking about her experience, Varsha shared,“I previously worked with SVC for Jaanu. When Thammudu came my way, I auditioned and got selected immediately. Director Venu sir clearly mentioned that much of the shoot would take place in a dense forest. I took it as a challenge.”
Varsha plays Chitra, a character that unconditionally supports Nithiin’s role, Jai.“She’s a strong and action-driven character. For this film, I even trained in martial arts – something I always wanted to learn,” she added.
The film was shot in the real forests of Maredumilli, not in studio sets. “We shot under harsh conditions – snakes, insects, and rain – with just torchlights at night. Still, the entire team, including senior actress Laya who flew in from the US, gave their best. Injuries were common but the energy on set was incredible,” Varsha revealed.
On her co-star, she said,“Nithiin is fun and respectful to all on set. We bonded well, especially since we had no phones in the forest – just real conversations!”
She also praised director Venu’s disciplined style, “He sticks to the written lines. While I improvised in Middle Class Melodies, here it was about precision.”
About the film, she said, “Thammudu has an emotional brother-sister core but is packed with action and layers of depth. It’s a visual treat – definitely a big-screen experience.”
Varsha, who is also part of the web series Constable Kanakam, hinted at more upcoming projects, including two confirmed films.“One dream role I have is to play a psycho killer – such unpredictable characters fascinate me.”
