"Thammudu" – A Visual Treat with Deep Family Emotions

After the Sankranthi blockbuster, Sri Venkateswara Creations is back with Thammudu, starring Nithiin and directed by Sriram Venu. The film hits theatres worldwide on July 4. Alongside Nithiin, the film features strong performances from Laya, Varsha Bollamma, Saptami Gowda, Swasika Vijay, and Ditya.
Director Sriram Venu says Thammudu blends strong family emotions with layered storytelling and visual beauty. The movie carries an 'A' certificate not due to excessive violence, but to preserve its essence without censor cuts. The film stays true to its emotional core, especially focusing on brother-sister bonding, while also giving equal importance to five female leads, which is rare in mainstream cinema.
The idea for Thammudu stemmed from a newspaper article. Sriram Venu and producer Dil Raju collaborated without compromising on creative or budgetary aspects. Although the film was initially planned to wrap in 8 months, it took 2 years, still completed within the original budget.
Archery plays a key role in the film and required actor Nithiin to undergo specialized training. Much of the movie was shot in challenging forest terrains, adding to its authenticity and visual appeal. Noted cinematographers Sameer Reddy, Guhan, and Sethu contributed to its stunning visuals.
Child actor Ditya plays a crucial role and underwent multiple auditions and 70 days of shooting. Saptami Gowda, chosen after her performance in Kantara, delivered a powerful act. The film's background score is by Ajaneesh Loknath, adding emotional depth to the narrative.
Sriram Venu emphasizes he never repeats genres and that his scripts always prioritize strong female characters. He remains open to pan-India films if the right script comes along but stresses that not every pan-India release resonates with audiences.
Thammudu is already drawing attention in the digital space—Netflix has acquired OTT rights at a notable rate. With no compromise in quality, the film is ready for a grand theatrical launch.
