Press Note: Telangana Agricultural Labour Union Urges Participation in July 9 Nationwide Strike
Date: 07/07/2025Location: Kumuram Bheem Asifabad District, Telangana

Munjam Anand Kumar, State Convenor of the Telangana Agricultural Labour Union, has called upon agricultural workers, rural poor, marginal farmers, and tenant farmers to actively participate in the nationwide general strike on July 9 organized by the working-class unions.
He strongly criticized the Modi government for its failure to control skyrocketing prices and demanded a revision of minimum wages in line with the cost of living. Despite the Supreme Court recommending ₹18,000 as minimum wage for unorganized workers, the government has remained indifferent, he said. He demanded ₹600 per day wage for agricultural laborers.
The Union also demanded:
14 essential commodities be distributed through ration shops, as done in Kerala.
Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farm produce and proper procurement by FCI.
Construction of 2 crore houses annually as promised, with ₹15 lakh per house support and land allocation for the poor.
Increase MGNREGS workdays to 200, and ensure proper wage allocation and timely payments.
He also condemned rising atrocities against Dalits and Adivasis and accused the Modi government of sheltering perpetrators. He expressed concern over RSS ministers talking about removing secular, socialist values from the Constitution, while the PM remains silent.
