Sapthagiri's wholesome entertainer, ‘Pelli Kani Prasad’, directed by Abhilash Reddy Gopidi, blends humor and social commentary, promising to be the perfect entertainer. Produced by Vision Group K.Y. Babu, Bhanu Prakash Goud, Sukka Venkateshwar Goud, and Vaibhav Reddy Mutyala under the banner of Thaam Media Entertainments, *Pelli Kani Prasad* is presented by Chaganti Cinematic World. The film is being released by the renowned Sri Venkateswara Creations (SVC), led by Dil Raju. The teaser and trailer already created a buzz. The film is set to release in theaters on March 21. Hero Sapthagiri shared details of the movie during a press meet.
How did ‘Pelli Kani Prasad’ begin its journey?
- “I’ve made films like “Sapthagiri Express”, “Sapthagiri LLB”, and “Vajra Makuta Dar Govinda”, which have done well in the commercial genre, and people supported them 100%. I wanted to play a character in the fun genre, where there’s room for comedy. That’s when the story of “Pelli Kani Prasad” came to me, and I really liked the script.”
- “Director Abhilash made me laugh a lot when he told me the story. I immediately felt this film would definitely work. Whenever there were small doubts, we’d consult Maruthi, and he would appreciate the story and ask us to bring the first copy. We watched the first copy at Maruthi’s home theater, and he appreciated the film, saying it was headed in the right direction. And now, we’re here presenting it to you all."
Who came up with the title selection?
- "The director did. Venkatesh’s iconic character 'Pelli Kani Prasad' fits perfectly with this film. This title works really well for the film, maintaining the essence and keeping the audience entertained."
About SVC's release?
- "Thanks to Anil Anna and to Shireesh Sigar for watching the film and congratulating us. We consider it a privilege that this film is being released by SVC. My career started as an assistant director and actor under Dil Raju’s banner. They only release films they believe in. I’m happy that our film is being released through them."

About Director Abhilash?
- "Abhilash is a director with clear vision. When he narrated the script, he already had 70% of the dialogue versions ready. Making people laugh is no easy task, but Abhilash’s narration had me enjoying the process. The humor will definitely come through on screen, and I’m sure the audience will enjoy it."
Tell us about the “Shasanal Grantham” (Code of Laws) shown in the trailer?
- "It’s a fun-oriented concept. In the “Shasanal Grantham”, rules about dowries from grandparents are discussed. There are regulations about dowry, and the wedding can happen only when the dowry is set. This creates an interesting father-son conflict in the film."
What is the heroine’s character like?
- "The hero’s character is quite dominating in this film. Our screen space is very equal. There’s a lot of humor generated from her side of the family as well."
Does the film carry any message?
- "No, it's purely a film made to make people laugh. The screenplay and situational comedy are excellent, and the movie will be a fun ride for the audience."
- "The producers have supported the film immensely, and the publicity has been amazing. We have full confidence in the content, and we’re sure the audience will enjoy the film."
- "We’ve opened paid premieres on the 20th, and 70% of them have already been sold. That’s been a source of great happiness."
About the music?
- "Shekhar Chandra has composed the music, and the two tracks have turned out beautifully. The BGMs are excellent, and I’m sure the audience will enjoy them in theaters."
Will we ever hear you being called 'Junior Pelli Kani Prasad'?
- "If that happens, I would be very happy. Some people are already calling me “Pelli Kani Prasad”. The publicity has reached well, and even Venkatesh Garu has seen the scenes and blessed the film to be a hit."
What upcoming projects are you working on as a hero?
- "There are some good stories lined up. After the release of this film, I will share details about my new project."
