Megastar Chiranjeevi Credits Kamal Haasan as Dance Inspiration at WAVES Summit

Mumbai, May 2 — The inaugural edition of the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) kicked off today at the Jio World Centre, Mumbai, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally inaugurating the four-day event. The summit is designed to foster innovation, collaboration, and dialogue in the global media and entertainment industry.

One of the major highlights of the day was a special panel discussion featuring cinematic icons Chiranjeevi, Rajinikanth, Hema Malini, Mohanlal, and Mithun Chakraborty, moderated by actor Akshay Kumar.

During the session, Megastar Chiranjeevi reflected on his early journey, stating that Kamal Haasan was his inspiration for dance. “Right from childhood, I was drawn to acting and performance. I admired how Kamal Haasan danced, and that deeply inspired me to improve myself in that aspect,” he shared. He also credited Amitabh Bachchan for inspiring his approach to action and Mithun Chakraborty for motivating him to keep his acting grounded and real.

Chiranjeevi also recalled watching Mithun’s National Award-winning performance in Mrigayaa while still a student, calling it a pivotal moment that shaped his naturalistic acting style.

Akshay Kumar lauded Chiranjeevi for his candid insights and praised him as the "true flag bearer of Telugu cinema."

The WAVES Summit will run until May 4, bringing together leaders, legends, and emerging voices from across the entertainment spectrum.
