Ace filmmaker Sekhar Kammula gears up for the release of his most ambitious project yet — Kubera, a high-budget, pan-India film starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna. The film is set for a grand worldwide release on June 20 in five languages: Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Speaking at a press meet, Kammula shared that Kubera is an emotional thriller that explores two contrasting worlds — that of a billionaire and a beggar. "It’s not just a story, it’s an experience. I’m excited to tell such a powerful and thought-provoking narrative," he said.

While praising the cast, he noted that Nagarjuna was his first and only choice for a layered role, bringing a rare charm and depth. Dhanush, according to him, delivered an “outstanding performance,” perfectly embodying the title role. Rashmika Mandanna, he added, will surprise audiences with her impactful presence.

Kammula revealed the film was shot separately in Telugu and Tamil to ensure authenticity. He also emphasized the honest storytelling that shaped his earlier hits like Leader and Happy Days continues in Kubera.

The movie features a powerful score by Devi Sri Prasad, whose songs have already topped charts, especially tracks like Poiyara Mama, Trans of Kubera, and PP Dum Dum.

Shot across real locations, including challenging schedules in Mumbai, Kubera aims to spark awareness without being ideologically divisive.

Though speculations exist about sequels, Kammula confirmed Kubera is a standalone film. As for a possible Leader 2, he’s open to it but wants to adapt the story to today's socio-political context.
