300-Crore Scam in Chitrapuri: Film Workers Stage Massive Protest at FDC

ree

Hyderabad: Alleging a ₹300 crore scam in the Chitrapuri Housing Society, film workers and union leaders staged a massive protest at the Film Development Corporation (FDC) office demanding the arrest of society president Vallabhaneni Anil Kumar. Protesters accused Anil of large-scale corruption, selling flats meant for film workers on the black market, and ignoring court orders.

Leaders from the Chitrapuri Porata Samithi and CITU claimed that instead of building single and double-bedroom homes for genuine workers, the current committee is constructing large flats (1200–4400 sq ft) to sell to outsiders, in collusion with HMDA and government officials.

Despite 15 FIRs, 10 charge sheets, and two prior arrests, Anil continues his illegal activities, protesters said, blaming authorities for inaction and alleging that some government officials are complicit in the scam.

Key Demands:

  • Justice for 6,000 long-waiting members who paid over 20–25 years ago.

  • Cancel plans to issue 1,000 new memberships.

  • Dissolve current committee and appoint an ad-hoc one.

  • Ensure only 1BHK and 2BHK homes for eligible workers in new constructions.

  • Strict action against officials ignoring High Court orders.

Leaders Present: Kasturi Srinivas, Sankuri Ravinder, Bhadr, Shivashankar Patel, Hema Sudarshan, and others.
